The 2012 Bentley Mulsanne has the horsepower and torque for times when you need the power, but for just cruising on the highway when you don't need a ton of power, the Bentley incorporated cam phasing and variable displacement. Once you get up to speed, excessive horsepower is not needed. The Bentley drops cylinders and powers down to four cylinders when cruising with a light load to save fuel consumption. Under full power, it puts out 505 base horsepower and 752 pound-feet of torque at about 1,750 rpm.

The 2011 Maybach Landaulet Convertible, a German-made sedan with a 6.0-liter, V-12 bi-turbo engine, puts out 620 horsepower and 738 pound-feet of torque, allowing you to cruise to your heart's delight. This five-speed automatic gets 16 m.p.g. on the highway, which is not too shabby for a high horsepower sedan. Put down the convertible top and cruise in style. The four-wheel disc brake setup allows for the extra stopping power needed to slow those horses down when you need to stop. This four-passenger sedan provides plenty of leg room: 41.3 inches. It features 38.8 inches of headroom for those taller people.

The 2011 Mercedes-Benz Maybach 57 S is another German-made best luxury sedan that gives you a comfortable ride with the power to cruise. The Maybach's power plant produces 620 horsepower between 4,800 and 5,100 rpm and 738 pound-feet of torque between 2,000 and 4,000 rpm. This is just about right of idle, so if you goose it, the power is almost instantaneous.

Another one of the best sedan cars is the 2011 Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe. The Drophead's 6.7-liter, V-12 power plant puts out 453 horsepower at 5,350 rpm and 531 pound-feet of torque at 3,500 rpm. It hits the 0 to 60 mark in 5.6 seconds with a maximum speed of 150 mph. It's six-speed automatic transmission transfers the power to the rear wheels. The Drophead provides impressive headroom of 40.4 inches and 40.9 inches of leg room in the front. The rear is also spacious, and provides 37.1 inches of headroom and 36.8 inches of leg room in the rear.
